^MA 1 80 ^PL 0 ^JU ^CEHPCC - DATAFILE ^CE=============== ^SK0^JUI should like to take this opportunity to introduce HPCC and its magazine DATAFILE to you. HPCC stands for Handheld and Portable Computer Club. The club is based in the London area but has members all over the world. ^SK1The club is an independent and volountary body founded and run by users of HEWLETT-PACKARD handheld and portable computers. The club is devoted to helping members obtain the best from their equipment and to that end we have regular informal monthly meetings at which our 'experts' are always ready to help those who ask for it. ^SK1In 1986 we published a total of 252 pages in 8 issues of DATAFILE. In 1987 we plan issues for January/February, March, April/May, June, July/August, September, October/November and December. 6 of the issues should be 28 pages long and 2 should be 44 pages long, as a minimum. If funds permit, and members send in enough material, the 28 page issues will either be increased in number or size. ^SK1Our editorial policy is simple. We will publish anything that is sent in provided that:- ^SK0(a) The material is not scurrilous. ^SK0(b) The material is relevant - it should relate to HP/HPIL equipment, books or magazines (no photocopier reviews in DATAFILE). ^SK0(c) The material is complete; ie:- Listings AND Instructions must accompany program submissions. ^SK0(d) The material is of appropriate length - a 1 or 2 page item is more likely to be used soon than a 4 page item. ^SK0(e) The editor (that's me) attempts to check all the material - but doesn't guarrantee to do so. If "errors" are found then they are drawn to the attention of the author. If the author declines to revise the submission then it is printed "as is" but the editor reserves the right to append comments. ^SK0(f) We do sometimes take paid advertising - but only when the committee feels that it would be of some specific benefit to members (special discounts?) - ie:- we are selective. Members are allowed "non-commercial" advertising free on a space available basis. ^SK0(g) We do publish barcode for the HP41 - usually as the centrefold. ^SK1Material that is sent in must be in the correct format: either 85mm or 120mm column width, with column lengths of 250mm and 355mm respectively. If there is a particular reason for so doing (style of output of, say the THINKJET) then I allow full width pages of 180mm with a page length of 250mm. ^SK1DATAFILE has been going for 4 years or so and we have back copies of all issues. The back issues are available at an approximate cost of GBP 4.00 each (inc. p&p) or GBP 18.00 per year. Precise details, and membership forms, are available from JOHN COLE, our membership secretary, whose address is GEGGS LODGE, HEMPTON ROAD, DEDDINGTON, OXFORD OX5 4QG, ENGLAND.
